Our Specialists
Kallirroe Fragkou / CEO - Pharmacologist
Her extensive academic training at the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Science provided her with valuable laboratory research skills, which led in 2004 to her employment as a Research Assistant in the Department of Immunology at the University of Sussex in Brighton.
Her professional career also includes a role in medical information, specializing in the formulations Reminyl and Topamac, for a multinational pharmaceutical company, a subsidiary of JANSSEN-CILAG in Greece.
Pharmacology is the science that studies the effects of drugs on the human body. Unlike the pharmacist, who manages and dispenses medications, the pharmacologist focuses on the scientific understanding of pharmaceutical substances, their effectiveness, potential side effects, and their proper use, based on each patient’s profile.
A pharmacologist specializes in:
- evaluating the action of drugs in the body and the way they are metabolized (pharmacokinetics & pharmacodynamics),
- identifying possible drug interactions,
- guiding physicians and patients toward the safest and most effective pharmaceutical treatment,
- participating in research processes for the development of new therapies,
- adjusting treatment based on age, gender, genetic predisposition, and the patient’s overall health status.
Pharmacology plays a decisive role in modern medicine, as every organism is unique. The pharmacologist’s specialized knowledge contributes to personalized, safe, and evidence-based therapeutic decisions that are:
- safe, aiming to avoid side effects and dangerous interactions,
- personalized, as they are based on the needs of the specific individual,
- effective, achieving the optimal therapeutic result.
At Marieva MedCare Wellbeing, the pharmacological approach is integrated into clinical practice with responsibility, precision, and scientific validation. Because the proper use of medications is not simply a matter of dosage — it is a matter of science and trust. Ms. Fragkou works closely with other physicians, especially psychiatrists, for the design and monitoring of pharmaceutical treatments tailored to each individual’s needs.
However, her professional path in pharmacology was temporarily interrupted due to a deeply personal experience involving her daughter’s health. This trial became a turning point, strengthening her understanding, resilience, and deeper empathy toward mental and emotional challenges.
Kallirroi Fragkou, with strong determination, deep empathy, and a positive outlook on life, chose to transform her personal experiences into a driving force for contribution. Thus, Marieva MedCare Wellbeing was created with the aim of supporting individuals facing mental difficulties and addictive behaviors. Today she possesses many years of experience and substantial expertise in providing therapeutic approaches.
